The 68-9 FI type 3s used an L. A B dist would be really early, way before FI. There WAS an AB dist around '70, however. > >It's hard to see from here, but I can tell you that it's the > > wrong vac adv can; > > It's not where it should be, granted but it fits. > > > it may work fine, however. There are a lot of pages to scan thru just looking for 789. I'm pretty sure that it is neither a Type 3 nor a VW can. There are 3 things that Bosch varies on the cans: diaphram diameter, spring constant, and hose connection position. Since they have a couple thousand different cans, some of them are bound to be rather close in function. Your hose connection will be difficult to reach, but that is less important as long as you can get the hose on there. While looking thru the Bosch book, I noticed something for the first time: A number of Opels around 1970 had BOTH an advance can AND a retard can. Wierd! How were these set up, Keith? Did they fight each other or do they just never work at the same time? -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
