GaryG=> Can you please elaborate on this point? When you change the direction of the car, everything inside the car is also forced to change direction, as when you have something sitting on the seat, turn left, and it scoots across the seat and drops off the right side. This is a side load. The various motions of the car, transmitted through the mount to the speaker, will have the same effect as constantly wiggling the speaker back, forth, up and down by hand. Better speakers have larger magnets and more mass, increasing this problem. Both to keep them where you want them and to take full advantage of the capabilities of better speakers, firm mounting is better.
