the 315 in the vin means NOTHING to the model number.

315 in the vin number, means:

3xx xxx xxx = type 3
x1x xxx xxx = sedan
xx5 xxx xxx = 1965

the rest of the numbers are the actual number of the car in production.

Your notch's model number is most likely MODEL 317 VW 1500 N/VW 1500 A Sedan LHD with sliding sunroof from Aug. 1963 - July 1966

It was most likely produced in Aug-Dec of 64 as a 65 model
