hi there is a captive nut that the bolt you screwed into holds the shock at the top if this has spun in its housing you will not have really got the bolt up tight. only solution drill a hole on the suspension arm to the rear of it and weld it solid again then weld the hole you just made back up ask me how i know!! other possibility is that the spaced bushings that sit between the body of the car and the top of the shock tower over years have become squashed ! lift the mat in the rear just next to the top of the strut tower on the cargo floor you will find a peice of the floor that will lift up just next to the wheel well try tightening this bolt that pulls the body to the shock tower. sad thing is these rubber dougnuts that space the body st these points are probably gone for most of us new ones are unheard of and the only real solution would be self manufacture weather you go solid here would be up to you. these mounts may acount for why some people have more problems than others fitting aftermarket carbs and even the typ4 engine conversion. personally i am going to solid aluminum mount in this area then i can forget it forever! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
