DeeAnn=> blue/white smoke on startup ... running => really rich. you can smell raw gas. Most likely valve guide wear. This would allow excess oil into the chambers and the smoke you see. If it's only on startup, you may be able to get by for a while by getting the fuel system adjusted properly. Plan on a head rebuild, maybe new heads and cylinders. The fuel problem could be simple adjustment or a major rebuild, including machine work. => The guy wants $3500 for the car... Very => little rust except for the inside floor boards. I read this as significant floor rust and lighter rust elsewhere. If that's a fair assessment, add in the GEX motor (which is essentially worthless) and you've got what would be a parts car here in AZ and a maybe $1500 project in the Midwest. Look more carefully at the body, fender wells and interior for signs of rust and leakage. Resist falling in love until you're sure the patient will survive.
