I suspect that with enough effort you could install the type 3 AT in ANY type 1. I don't think it helps much that the type 1 started out as an autostick. These are completely different animials. I'm sure Russ knows the details, but I suspect that it would be easier to just put in a standard MT, but I don't know if the clutch cable tube is there. Neither the AT nor the MT would need the special oil pump that comes with the autostick.
