They all have 15 sections. They all say 65/70 degrees on them. 2 are from T-3's one is from T-1. The one with 10 sections may actually be a T-2 1700 thermostat orginally. or a replacement. These measure about 1 3/16" at room temperature. I have one bad one here (I broke it) that measures about 1 5/8" expanded. BTW, there is no liquid in them, but it does smell like alcohol. To test thermostats, put them in a pan of water on the stove, and slowly warm them up with a thermometer in the pan. The 65/70 is centigrade, so do the conversion. Don't try to unscrew the brass piece that screws onto the linkage. That is how I broke mine. The bolt that holds the thermostat to the bracket is a fairly short one (15mm/5/8") with a flat washer. Do not use a longer one, as you can ruin the thermostat. It can break an internal seal if bottomed out in the hole. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
