the previous owner has bypassed one (only one) of the fuel lines into the tunnel. the person drilled a big hole in the shift access (by the pump) and ran the new rubber line thru the hole and out the drain at the rear of the tunnel and snaked it up the correct connection point at the forward air tin. i had assumed that they did this because the line has rusted. but i really don't like it, because either of the entry/exit points may leak, and would like to put it back to a hard line. can i test teh existing hard line, or run a new one (perhaps outside the tunnel under the car)? sometimes i think i am smelling exhaust and/or fuel, it might be this line. i have replaced the overflow hose and i don't think anything is leaking. -- nathan http://vwt3.orntar.net/ 1970 fastback ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
