I'm surprised to see this on a car as early as 67; I didn't think they ever had the problem. Frankly, I think it was a "fix" for a perceived, rather than a real, problem. I suspect that both versions of the louvers worked equally well. > How come you do not see a lot of 1967's. I am always on Samba and Type3 > site and just do not see them often. '67: 12V, dual port heads, last year for dual carbs in the US '69: IRS, dual port heads, FI, last year for the early body style. '71: best FI system, best overall construction > Also how in the heck to do you remove the rearview mirror. It's got a metal stem, right? I thought all those were screw mounted, but I could be wrong. In 68 they snapped into place, but I thought that was the first year for that. Let someone more knowledgable answer this one. > What manual do you recommend for the 67. You should have BOTH of these: Volkswagen Official Service Manual Type 3 Fastback and Squareback 1968-1973 published by Robert Bentley, Cambridge, Mass, 1974 ISBN 0-8376-0057-X / LPV 997 383 / VSQU (excellent book, complete and well written) VW 1500 & 1600 Type 3, 1963 thru 1973, Haynes 084 (US) by J H Haynes and D H Stead published by Haynes North America, Inc, 1974, 1987, 1989, 1993 ISBN 0-900550-84-8 Everything covered in the Bentley will also be correct for a 67, but you'll want the Haynes for the carbs. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
