[T3] Type III Goes to Hollywood

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say thank you all for being so supportive of trying to answer
to the best of your abilities the questions [sometimes silly] that can arise
from first time Type III owners.

Although somewhat unfortunate I made the decision to sell my first [not
last] Type III which was a 1969 AT/FI squareback. When we purchased this
vehicle we really had no real clue as to the time and money involved in
making it daily driver worthy, not to mention the frustration that an
inexperienced owner can endure should the AT or FI give out completely. The
cool thing, however, is that this vehicle was purchased by a small
independent film company here in the LA area who was in desperate need of a
squareback to co-star in a movie that is about to start filiming today. The
individual who had promised to let them rent their squareback backed out of
the deal, literally leaving the crew 3 days to find a squareback. I was
told that they had found the Type3 website and contacted 2 other individuals
looking to sell their squares. It was not until they saw mine that the
director became completely smitten and would not rest until I either agreed
to rent it to them or accepted their offer to buy it [at my asking price, of
course]; I opted to sell it knowing that I would some day find one more
suitable to our needs. I was also told that because the director fell so in
love with its "old man character" that he had decided keep it for his own
once filming wraps.

In closing I want to say thanks also to your wonderful classified section as
this is where my add was found by the film company. I am now on the hunt
for a squareback with a manual transmission and carbs. The great thing is
that I already have one in mind that I believe is going to be perfect.

Anthony & Rhonda

[P.S. - Because I have since lost the passcode needed in order to remove my
add is there any way that you can still manually remove it since the vehicle
has been sold -- mine is the add under the heading "1969 Squareback -
Southern California"]
