[T3] Clutch cable?

<x-flowed>Hi all-

A friend came by yesterday to  have me look at his type 1 [not everyone i 
know drives type 3s]

So here is what its doing..when you push the pedal in it makes a "Pop",or 
"click" about mid way through.
He had the pressure plate, t/o bearing and clutch replaced just over a year 
ago. I have adjusted the clutch a few times which made no difference.
Toby also stopped by, I had him push in the pedal and from under the car you 
can really here the noise,I have never had a car with a loose clutch cable 
tube could this be it?
Or I am thinking it might just be a bad pressure plate?
Thoughts?
