Yes, I can confirm that. On a beetle, the vac can is on the rear (rear is 
rear) side of the distributor, so it will have room to adjust (the intake gets in 
the way if it was in front). On a type3, the vac can is in front (front is 
front) of the distributor, so it can be adjusted (otherwise it will be in 
contact with the cooling shroud, and not able to be adjusted). I hope this helps.
