Jim,
Success!! By the time I got through the second hinge, things were going 
pretty smooth. We ended up removing the two pins from the hinge and 
installing the two pieces separately. This worked!!
Thanks a lot for the help with this. It took about an hour and a half to 
install the hinges and realign the hatch.
