I talked to Kevin last night -- he's in Wells, NV: http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?csz=Wells,+NV ...and going nowhere fast, at the moment. The car began missing last night, so he pulled over to check things out. To make a long story short, it seems as though he's installed his new/spare cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs, but now it will not start -- or will run for a wee bit if he's got it floored. He feels as though it isn't getting gas, but I reminded that it has to be good spark plus gas (in the right amount) for things to go. I suggested a couple of things for him to check. Apparently the car ('71 stock Squareback w/ MT) was towed to a mechanic, and it was going to get looked at this morning at 8AM. His spirits are good and he's not under any sort of immediate time pressure. He has Bentley and Muir. I just hope the mechanic doesn't steer him wrong with his "funny" VW. (I gave standard Mechanic vs. Type III warnings.) Here's hoping... -Greg ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
