Wasn't it quiet. This weekend I re-adjusted my front stabilizer bar (I'm
finally happy now!) adjusted my steering box (not happy- will do it again
next weekend) and had a bit of a brain wave concerning my throttle linkages.
I've ordered my fancy (beautiful) miniature ball joints from THK but they
have to come from Japan so take 3 wks. In the mean time Jay the legendary SE
London type3 Guru (and really special guy) came and laid his hands on my
carbs and now she runs real nice again- for now. It suddenly occured to me
that the play in my short linkages could be taken out with springs. As I'm
going to replace them anyway, I'm not worried about accelerated wear (and
its a lot less than the spring loading on the long linkages) I made up a
couple of hooks out of brass wire and slung a small tension spring between
them and hooked the ends onto the ball studs in front of the linkage. I
re-balanced the carbs and am pleased to report that she seems to run more
evenly since! -so far. Oh and I rebuilt my Hurst shifter- milled out an alu
plate that sits over the cracked nylon bits and holds them in place- very
fiddly to disassemble- will have to do again if I get a proper cover-
problem is that in the meantime I greased and refitted my original-
Properly- and it seems great and looks pucker- what to do?
