The 3/4 side is the original head from my 71 Fasty that I flycut just enough to clean up the cylinder mating surface when I rebuilt them last summer. The 1/2 side is a brand spanking new Brazilian EMPI head. Both have had a 3 angle valve job done. Neither have the step in the cylinder mating surface. One other fact is that I measured the heads with two different apparatus. The 3/4 head was measured in the Lab at work with dedicated cylinder head measuring equipment. The new head I did at home with a 5 cc syringe. There is likely some differences in the measurement method. Since all indications are that I will need to get into both sides and I was planning on pulling the engine for this job anyway (going to put in a new main seal and a new clutch disk, too), I will measure the 3/4 head with my at-home method and run the numbers again before reassembling. Plan is to do it tomorrow afternoon so swapping would be a bit of a problem. <G> Later, John Jaranson '71 FI AT Fasty (Jane - Darkside Project) '66 Square (Sophy - Daily Driver) About Half a Late Square (Organ Donor) http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jaransonT3/jaransonT3/ http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jaransonT3/notavwclub/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
