Early 411 calipers are not identical to the later Type 3 ones, but they do fit, and take the same pad and disc; they lack the runout compensation in the piston. They also fit in front of the axle on the Type 4, but behind it on a Type 3, so you need to check you are putting them on the correct side (L/R). I think they all have two bleed screws (well, one bleed and one drain). > Late type 3 rotors are the same as all type 4 (914) rotors. '72 on Type 4 (411 and 412) callipers, pads and discs (rotors) are not the same as late Type 3. I would want to know that front/rear braking balance wasn't compromised by using water-cooled callipers on the light front-end of a Type 3. I think it would be. Dave.
