>I know if the braided line at the top starts to crack >you can get away with trimming a little off and just >re-clamping it. I've done that. It works, for a little while.. then, over many months, the hose that had been mended in this manner continued to deteriorate and one day left me wetting the top of my tin over the exhaust manifold with fresh, unburnt high octane fuel. 8~O I've got "boiled" scraps of paint in the spot to remind me. Luckily I'm in the habit of popping the engine lid for the smallest reason, or I may not have noticed this until it was too late... I figure I'd driven around spilling fuel for over a day. Grinding off the crimp was fun. I used a dremel bit in an adjustble speed drill (at a slower speed) and held on to the injector REAL tight*.. and avoid sloppily cutting into the hose until the crimp is sliced the better part of its length. Pliers and a flat head screwdriver come in handy to (gently) pry the 2 halves further apart, grind, pry & "pop". *That particular method is not the most advisable, coming from someone who is currently typing this out with a big scoop drilled into my thumb from an entirely unrelated and non automotive mishap. With the new production braided German hose I trust my injectors a *lot* more.
