Front Beam [T3]

Hi everyone,

Been awhile, I'm still chugging away at digests about a month old... (long story)
making tracks though, soon I'll be back in the now..

ANYway, I took Brisby in for an alignment and heard the dreaded question.. "has
this car been in an accident?"

Turns out they (a reputable shop) were unable to get the front into spec, and cast
blame on my front beam. This beam was out of my old 1970, which was tagged on
the hind quarters by another motorist and turned me around 180 degrees. Could a
rear side impact affect the front beam at all?

Is there a way with an average tool kit to determine if the beam is in fact bent? It
looks fine to me... ;)

I did just go through and replace the ball joints, tie rod ends, et cetera; could I be to
blame for the wonky alignment? I did notice that the upper ball joints would go in
either way in the keyed opening of the upper control arm. (Whereas I think I recall
the originals were "notched" deeper on one side, allowing only one way to install)

That's the most important question of all, because otherwise I'm going to tear the
'73 beam from the parts car and rebuild *it* with all the parts I put on the '70 and I
don't want to recreate a mistake that I couls simply revert in an hour or so...

On the up side the car is running great, hitting on all FOUR cylinders!

Nice to be back,

Curtis
