Re: [T3] The long and short of it

Chris,

Others will have more experience and better advice -- including possibly at least several Portlanders -- but I have a couple of similar experiences.

On my '71 Squareback, the transmission suddenly started making some sort of loud grind/howl sound. I *believe* there was some precursor smaller noise for a long time, but I can't recall for sure; for some reason I had picked up a spare transmission, so I swapped it into the car.

On my '70 bus, I went to shift it, and something funky happened with the clutch pedal/gear shift. Terrible noises, not really shiftable. It turned out to be a self-destructed throwout bearing.

Hope others have some more specific help. Maybe one of the Portland "chop shop" (just kidding!) crew members has a spare tranny....!
