Are you sure you're using the correct end of the "180*mark"? I only say that
because that end of the pulley has a large (about1" cast section) on it, and
the groove is at one end of that. So its possible that you're probably pretty
close.

I'd use Muir , as he does a very good job of walking you thru the adjustment,
you might want to remember what he says " Don't think, just do it like its
written", and "even get somebody to read you the instructions". You just might
want to double check the gooves on the pulley before you get to far though.

Yes, because if the dizzy is installed like a bug, it will never match a
type3 location.

It sounds like you're on the right path. I think you're just thinking to hard
about this. I have done them in under a half an hour, and the first time I
showed somebody how to do one they got it in under 45 minutes. I've also told
another friend of mine how to do it over the phone. Its not Rocket science, and
its not supposed to be that difficult. Maybe you need to re-read the Muir book
again, and now that you've done at least 1 cylinder and possibly 2 , it will
help you visualise what he's trying to tell you (sometimes that helps) because
you done part of it and can now relate to it. I hope this helps.
