The mechanic For gas smells, I'd look at the overflow hose under the gas filler neck (broken or missing?), look under the fuel tank for drips (I had a bug with tank rust-thru which caused this problem), and look at the condition of the many hose connections under the tank and in the fuel pump area. Also make sure the hose connections are good in the engine compartment. Look for leaks there while the engine is running. -Mark Fuhriman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
