This provides the clearance that you need to install/remove the 3 drive plate to torque converter bolts. The space does not need to be as large as the OE AT cases have, but you DO have to make sure that you've given yourself enough room to do the job. This job is best done with a die grinder and a carbide cutter. Use WD-40 to keep the cutter from loading up. If you're just swapping in a complete MT engine, then you'll need to replace the MT flywheel with your old AT drive plate. When you do this you'll need to readjust the crankshaft end play, and it's probably best to replace the flywheel oil seal at the same time. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
