Just a suggestion, but maybe there's a bad ground somewhere, and your ignition circuit is grounding somehow through you lowbeam or your highbeam circuit? I've seen things like this happen before with other cars. I got most of it, but I think I forgot about the Hex nuts behind the knobs. that would explain why it wouldn't move.
