More info - I'm not sure of the year but the tag that was on the

That VIN is correct for a 1972 Squareback.
What is the VIN stamped in the metal under the rear seat?
A 1972 Squareback's engine would drag on the ground without
the rear engine carrier -- unless someone has added tranny frame
horns like on a Beetle, or if your car is some sort of Frankensteined
beast built on an older swing axle pan. (...or an older car entirely
w/ an incorrect '72 VIN on the body... or a couple of other very
unlikely scenarios.)
To be sure -- are you talking about the engine support that
runs from the left side to the right side across the whole engine bay
(late/irs), or the anti-torque mount that connects to the body closer
to the center, near the engine's oil breather (early/swing axle)?
