I went at the problem as systematically as I could this evening, absolutely by the book. I couldn't get the carbs to balance, and that was when I realised that the throttle stop on my left hand carb was having no effect. I disconnected the left hand linkage and the rpm went way down. I was able to balance the carbs with both linkages off. I think that what happened was that when I replaced the linkage pivot I made the accelerator cable too taut, and the throttle on the left hand carb was being pulled slightly open. I readjusted the linkage and accelerator cable, but didn't have time to test it before it got dark. Did I do the right thing? I think I've just solved a pretty major problem, but I am not sure whether this is finally IT. Daniel > > On a possibly related subject. How warm is are the intake manifolds > > supposed > > to get?
