I always change the RC gaskets, and use the boiling water trick to revitalise
them if I don't have any spare.  The black rubber and cork ones have never let
me down (yet!), and I use no sealer on either size.  I do move the cover around
a bit and slide it up to catch the gasket at the bottom lip of the cover.  Maybe
I'm just lucky.

I don't remember any trouble with the old 30hp cork ones either, or the strange
34hp ones with the extra bump on the top.   Or maybe my memory is just bad!
