A half hearted attempt was made to convert, but the ones in charge of the conversion didn't believe in metric, so they rigged it to fail by sticking with English predominant/Metric equivalent. How can you learn Kilometers by reading signs with 43 miles and 69.2 kilometers. If signs were re-positioned to read 89 kilometers/55.3 miles Americans would begin to learn round metric numbers. Jeff - off topic, but worked on a project with Metric/Eng dimensions on hardware drawings and Eng/Metric dimensions on tooling to build the hardware. It was loads of fun! -----Original Message----- > I think the US is really the last bastion of the > English measurement system.
