It's perfectly possible to replace just the rubber on the outers; there have been many descriptions on the list of using the Type 2 rubbers (available loose, remember LH and RH) cut to a suitable length. It goes better with the earlier ones than the later, but both work reasonably. After all, they are only there to discourage the water from going in, not as a perfect seal. Just keep the door drain holes/slits clear. Dave.
