Re: [T3] Fuel pump for EberspŠcher gas heater

<x-flowed>The diaphragm actually hasnt hardened, and the pump is running. I have installed it and it runs, but it's not able to pump fuel up from the tank. I have looked at a few places online that explain about the heaters, I knew most of what was written there already. The heater is a B2, btw., so if it just would pump the fuel, it would be ok. I have disconnected the fuel hose from the heater (directed into a bottle) but the pump isnt moving any fuel, even though it runs.

Per dont worry so much. The diaphram part of the pump needs to be some what
plyable for the pump to move. If the gas has made this hard the pump is
shot. Second the spark is there because they are breaker points, perfectly
natural. These pumps usualy dont work because of the hard diafram and not
electrical. And when you do have it running right it will suck the gas up
from the tank without being primed. Do you have any reprint of trouble
shooting manuals? I trust its a BN2 and not a BN4 like Don is speaking of
for his thing.

Subject: [T3] Fuel pump for Ebersp?cher gas heater

Volks,

I have a question about an electrical fuel pump for an Ebersp?cher gas
heater. I'm not at all experienced with electrical fuel pumps, so I have
to ask you.

I had a spare pump here that I had a look at, to see if I could get it
running again. I cleaned up the membrane area (lots of white "chalk"
there), took the membrane and rod out. Is there anything I should
lubricate this rod with upon assembly? There is what loks to be a hole
in the side of the pump body for oil.

After that I removed the rear cover (red plastic) to inspect the
electrical contacts. When I hooked up power, it didnt move, until I
helped it a bit. What worries me a bit is that there is a nice, blue
spark on the electrical contact as the pump runs. Since this pump is for
transporting gasoline, this spark worries me a bit. Should I be worried,
or is this perfectly normal?

And last but not least, should I expect this pump to suck the fuel up
from the tank when I install it, or should the dry lines be primed with
fuel first?

TIA,
