I wonder if your point's plate ground braid is bad in the dist, or if something else is bad there, or if it's possible that you're actually getting TOO much advance and the engine can't handle it. If you can get someone to go for a ride with you, hook up an inductive timing light and have them just watch the light flash while you drive. If the flashes get irregular when the missing starts then you know that it's an ignition problem. If the lights stay regular while the missing continues, then it's an engine problem. You MAY have to clip on each of the 4 SP wires in turn to see the problem. If so, that will narrow it down to a particular cylinder. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
