There are obviously different kinds of parts. There will always be parts where the new one is better. Tires are probably a good example of where age just always works against you. The thing to always keep in mind is that everyone out there is working hard to try to figure out ways to make everything they supply to you cheaper. This works against the new parts. There are also some old parts that were just designed poorly, for one reason or another, although I can't think of such a type 3 part off hand, except maybe the 68-9 master cylinder, where the problem was in the design, not the execution. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
