Let me take a trip out to the garage when the storm is over, I know the silver ones were standard by 68 at least. I think your O rings are just worn that way... Russ may be able to confirm/deny this but they used THICK Orings on the late cars... about 1/8" thick or so, it squished out into place when you put in the arm in.
