You can buy lengths of music wire at hobby shops which you can bend to shape. It is tough to bend and you'll have to wind it around something smaller to get it to be the right size when relaxed, so you'll have to experiment some. A set of drill bits makes for a nice selection of mandrels in graduated sizes. Just wind the coil first, then do one end and finally the other. You can make the ends longer if you like and then cut or grind them back, or leave them long if there's room inside. Springs wound from small wire are fairly easy to make, but don't try to hold the wire with your fingers, or it will whip around and take a chunk out of you. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
