Do you mean where the Accelerator pump cover hits the tin on the 
drivers-side carb?  I started out by getting it bolted on as best I could; 
the taking some White-out and a long thin paint brush to make an outline 
around where the carb is hitting.  Then remove the carb and stuff a rag in 
the manifold to keep any dirt out. Using a ball peen hammer I clearance the 
sheet metal, be careful the oil cooler is underneath. The newer accelerator 
pumps are thicker so go a little deeper so that you won't have to go deeper 
after an accelerator pump diaphragm change. Weber says tune lean there's a 
nice webpage on tunning the ict at webercarburetors.com.
The linkage goes to the back. I can't say whether the stock throttle cable 
reaches but I used the threaded end and barrel nut from a Fuel injected 
throttle cable. When The two piece Cable I'm using now breaks; I'll find out 
whether the stock fuel injection cable is long enough
