BenW=> Does anybody know an easy way to tell => if the cooling system is complete and operating => properly? Well, 'easy' is a bit subjective. If you're thinking of a quick rule of thumb that you can use while driving or looking at the idling engine, I don't know it. Without sensors and guages (which a lot of people think aren't much use anyway), you're sort of stuck with getting under there and looking at the various parts, sleeves, pipes, clamps, flaps, thermos, etc., comparing them with the exploded diagrams in your manual, and learning about how they all work. I don't know how that would be for you, but it's pretty easy for me, especially when I can borrow a little time on a lift.
