First look under the right side of the engine and see if the thermostat is there and changes length between hot and cold. Then make a mark on the flaps shaft and see if that rotates about 70 degrees between hot and cold. Another thing to check is the charging system regulating voltage. Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running after a drive to warm everything up and at medium RPM. It should be 14.1-14.4V. If it is less than 13.5V replace the voltage regulator with a Bosch 30-019. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
