I always thought it should have been connected to something on mine, especially when I went to T3D last weekend and all the notches had a rear support, I was thinking "oh dear, do I need to have one of those ?"... Not until I went round and eyeballed all the fastys that I realised some do, some don't... I assume it was left in because the engine was generic, i.e not produced with the car, so for a given engine they didn't know what it was going into. -----Original Message----- From: Jason Weigel [mailto:notchboy@cox.net] Sent: 27 August 2003 04:13 To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: NOW Shock bolt check out this Fastback > > Look closely at this 1969 Fastback: > > http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=2429283845 I always wondered why VW left the rear shaft that goes in the dohnut (rear motor shock) on the IRS later T3s? The body mount is gone but the shaft remains, weird. Any takers? jason ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
