RE: [T3] Hills and heat

>It is pretty dire on hills. Can anybody give me an idea of how it is supposed

How big/steep is the hill? My '66 doesn't have any problems except on long,
moderate inclines where it won't go any faster but I can cruise up at a
constant 55-60 mph or so. It's not an auto though but this in 4th gear.

There is a gradual hill that I take home from work every day, it's about
2 miles long, my speed is limited only by traffic.

>Also, how would I know if it is overheating? I drove 4km today (some of
it at almost full throttle while going uphill), and this is probably one
of the first times that the engine has attained its working temperature.
When I stopped I could smell a kind of burning smell. I am certain this
is coming from the exhaust.

It may be burning off some crap that's been in there for years since you
haven't ever gotten it "really hot".

Wow, really? Where? I can't touch most of my engine after about 10 minutes.

You could sneak outside with your family meat thermometer and check the
case temperature...
