It's hard to imagine how it could make an engine run hotter, unless you also changed the timing, which is cheating since the same timing change would also make it run hot with the reg plugs. My own Plat plug experience has been fine, but OTOH I find that the reg W8ACs also work just fine. BTW, I have W8ACs available for sale if anyone needs them.
