> Afternoon, I was wondering because I don't recall seeing one before, but does anyone have > a DIY/FAQ on how to align the safety latch/hood release on a late model Type 3? Rough alignment can be done by eye to check the latch pin is engaging centrally. As far as the ease of latching is concerned, it's not a bad idea to make sure the rubber buffers on the front corners of the hood are fully in - these can be adjusted later - and slacken off the pin so it engages easily. Then you can adjust it until it latches as the hood comes down to its proper position and with enough squishing of the rubber seal. You can then unscrew the corner buffers a bit at a time until the corners don't move down much. It's a good idea to leave out the spare and the well to make sure you don't have a bigger problem than simply lying on your back. After a bit of panic on holiday this summer when the hood didn't release, I readjusted the pin and tweaked the buffers to make it latch and unlatch more easily. It was later tested by a downpour while driving, proving it was still watertight. Dave.
