[T3] Help - need gas but fuel door release mechanism inop

Hi Everyone -

My newly acquired 1969 Fastback needs gas for a Sunday
road trip but the inside fuel door release isn't
cooperating.

I've taken a small screwdriver and gingerly poked
around the fuel door perimeter.  However, never having
seen it open I'm not quite sure how the mechanism
operates.  (discounting the "small" (cough) aspect,
this all seems vaguely familiar to an experience I had
about 26 years ago......) 

Anyway --- the Bentley has a nice picture of the
entire cable assembly but I just need some practical
advice as how to get the fuel door open.  Once open,
it looks as though I'll be able to detach and replace
the cable release unit.
