To get the dist out you have to loosen the clamp nut (22) and pull the dist up thru the clamp. I OFTEN find it easier to LOOSEN this nut (22) and REMOVE the nut/washer that holds the clamp to the case. Then I lift the dist a bit, pulling the clamp up above the stud that held it down. Then the clamp can be twisted, allowing it to clear that crossbar that it ran into earlier. That crossbar is the shaft that the cooling air flaps rotate on as they open and close. Nut (22) has to be loosened to adjust the timing or to remove the dist.
