<x-charset iso-8859-1>Someone run this past me again - For any DC motor, permanent magnet or field coils, why would brushes not be needed? You would still need to make contact with the armature to supply current, wouldn't you, which would need brushes? Ah, maybe they electrically pulse the outer coils and have the permanent magnets spinning (a sort of square-wave DC)? Dave.
