I ran a 1-belt system on an upright-T4-powered Ghia for 30,000mi without breaking a single belt (would have been longer but a deer got in the way of my headlights :-(. However, a T3 setup is different, as using a single belt for the whole mess brings along other problems, such as the one of figuring out how the heck to seal all the cooling air goodies :-).
