Re: [T3] 70 Square FI problem???

Now that I have read your posts my money is on the computer. The symptoms
described are exacltly the same as mine. A good way to check is turn the
ignition on, crank the engine (shut the engine off if it starts), leave the
ignintion in the "on" position, and walk to the engine compartment. If you
can hear that the injectors are still spraying fuel with the built up fuel
pressure, and you are sure that the injectors are working properly, the
computer is telling the injectors to fire continuously.
A simpler way would be to hook up a voltmeter or a test light to the wires
that go to one of the injectors. I discovered that there was 12V going to
the injectors, which was not right according to the guys on this list.
After a lot of work I did to make sure the wiring and all other connections
were good, I found that the computer was definately the problem. With the
ignition on, I can push lightly on the metal computer box and I can hear the
computer triggering the solinoids in the fuel injectors on and off
intermittently. When the computer decides to go to a CIS (continuous
injection system) mode, the engine starts hard an spews out black smoke when
it decides not to hold the injectors open all of the time, the engine runs
perfectly.
