This is a VERY good question to ask ahead of time, because fixing a broken
stud is a REAL PAIN, especially if the engine is assembled and in the car.

The trick is to get a torch and heat the NUTS so that they expand and come
free. Once they start to turn they will usually come right off, but occasionally
they will try to weld to the stud. You're out of luck if this happens. The only
thing you can do to prevent it is the following.

Heat the nut to dull red.

Let it cool slightly, then get on it with a well fitting wrench and loosen it a bit,
less than a turn.

Drip oil on the junction between the stud and the nut. This will make a lot of
smoke but eventually the stud will cool down and draw oil into this space.

Then you can turn off the nut without concern.

The real problem here is that you really need an acetylene torch here. It
MIGHT be possible with propane, but it takes forever to get that nut hot
enough.

Lastly, I will mention that I use brass nuts here. They don't seize up and
don't cause the galvanic problems that stainless steel will.
