No, I think it's a BAD idea. I don't think any of the plastic filters are made to
withstand 30 psi, especially with engine compartment temps. Russ probably
has more insight on this.

Keeping the cap on is a problem for lots of folks. There are 2 things that can
lead to this: One is just the act of taking it off frequently. The other is not
getting it installed ALL the way in properly.

If the cap is not installed ALL the way in, the plastic fingers which are
intended to reach UNDER the skin of the breather box won't have a chance
to grip properly. If left that way for long the fingers will lose the propensity to
spring out once pressed all the way down.

To correct this, you have to find something round which you can stick
INSIDE the cap that will force the fingers outward to their intended position,
then put the cap in boiling water for several minutes to get it to come back to
shape. Use a bottle cap of some kind and keep looking until you find the
right size.

Once the fingers have been re-sized, put the cap back on the breather and
press down HARD, deflecting the center dome of the cap somewhat
downwards. You will be able to tell you have done it properly if the cap stays
in place and does not recover upwards when you let go.
