If you think about it, it's the only one that you might find yourself driving with under normal circumstances when it's completely dark out and your eyes are quite dark acclimated. Otherwise this indicator would probably seem too bright and eventually get annoying. I hadn't thought of that since about 1969, when I swapped the plastic inserts from a later unit with icons on the inserts.
