It's actually pretty easy if you can use some hand power tools.  Just build
a little frame out of some MDF and use fiberglass and plastic body filler to
contour it.  Then cover it, paint it, whatever you want.  This is the
"correct" method that the car audio industry would use if you asked them to
do it.  It is also how I molded the console for my LCD screen in my '99
Alero.  I can take pictures of the console (out of the car now) and post
them on Version3 if needed.
